BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Earlier this week, Mayor Lauren Mclean signed a proclamation recognizing February as Black History Month in Boise.
Though honoring Black History Month may look and feel different this year amid the COVID-19 pandemic, one of the best ways to help is by supporting black businesses locally.
Zainab Abimbola, Owner of Taste of Nigeria African Cuisine in Boise says she moved to Boise 10 years ago to share her culture with America. Abimbola says her food truck has been struggling this past year and would appreciate support to keep it alive.
Dayo Ayodele, Music Director of Global Lounge Commons and member of the Afrosonics band in Boise, says Black History Month is a good time to celebrate and showcase his culture.
“It is great but it is also about everybody,” Ayodele said. “We all make this country a great country.”
