INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Members of the Indy Black Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday went to the Indiana Statehouse for an annual lunch with the legislators.
The luncheon let businessowners connect with lawmakers, and allowed conversation about state laws that may affect their businesses or the Black community.
One board member says this year’s luncheon was more important than ever to share concerns with lawmakers. Thomas Griffin said, “We’re hoping that we can create some unions with different groups and organizations, neighborhood associations, churches or religious organizations to form a strong, strong unit, that we can now go back to our politicians, to say we collectively want change or hope or something different than what we’re getting currently.”
The Indy Black Chamber of Commerce has provided resources to Black business owners, including education and financing, for the past 10 years.
