History, art and activism took center stage at Northeast Portland’s Highland Christian Center Saturday as the city’s Black community came together to honor leaders new and old.
Hundreds gathered for the 39th annual Martin Luther King Jr. tribute run by the World Arts Foundation. The event was scheduled for Jan. 15 before being postponed on account of the devastating winter storm, but the delay did not dampen the spirits of those in attendance.
