A shooting in Lake Oswego on Friday morning appears to have targeted the home of the CEO of the SAIF Corporation.
The shooting happened on Melrose Place, where Chip Terhune, the chief executive of Oregon’s nonprofit worker’s compensation insurance company, lives, according to police and public records.
Police said the shooting caused “minor damage” to the home, including to the front door, and that no one was injured.
Lauren Casler, a SAIF spokesperson, said in an email that the company was “aware of the incident at our president and CEO’s home.”
SAIF declined to provide any specifics, saying only that the company was working with law enforcement and “taking steps” to ensure the safety of its employees. Willamette Week first reported on the shooting.
In an internal email to SAIF employees obtained by The Oregonian/OregonLive, Terhune confirmed that his house was shot at on Friday.
“At around 4 a.m., I heard what I thought were rocks thrown at my house, but discovered they were gunshots,” he said in the email. “An investigation is underway, and we don’t know if this was specifically targeted to me.”
A social media post on NextDoor that claims to be written by a resident at Terhune’s address said three bullets went through windows in the home’s front door. The post goes on to say that a witness saw a person dressed in black and wearing a ski mask running from the scene after the shooting.
Police are asking anyone who might have information about the shooting to call (503) 635-0232.
Chip Terhune could not immediately be reached for comment.
