PadpitchA travel tour, established to tackle the financing gap facing black technological entrepreneurs will stop in Cincinnati on March 13. This is the fourth city on the Midwest tour. Roadpitch works with the Blacks in Technology (BIT) base to promote innovation, diversity and economic growth.
Roadpitch, founded by Meagan Turner and Rohan Brown, gives Black Tech founters the opportunity to participate in a week-long Sprint in the hope of increasing the pre-seed or seed capital of investors. The Midwest tour will take place on March 11-16, with the Roadpitch team traveling to Ann Arbor, Detroit, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Chicago and Milwaukee.
Turner, a native of Cincinnati, said: “I’m excited to bring our group of founders to the city to explore the Cincy Tech ecosystem and hopefully identify resources to keep them here.”
The evening meeting begins with a mixer and a fire chat, where the goal is to bring together the local ecosystem and black professionals in the city. The highlight of the event is a direct competition where both the founders and five local black technical founders will host their new businesses to the leaders, investors and community members of the community.
“The Blacks in Technology brand, with more than 32,000 members located over 80-plus chapters across 20 countries, are a global brand,” says Greg Greenlee, founder of Blacks in Technology. “Our mission – to increase the representation and participation of black people in technology – does not only come through the work we do, but in the partnerships we forge. That’s why we are so excited to work with Roadpitch to bring opportunities for our community through the roadpitch tour. We want to see our community show up and show these events!”
The Roadpitch evening in Cincinnati is on Wednesday, March 13, from 5: 30-8: 30 pm, in Union Hall, 1311 Vine St. In OTR. The event is free and open to the public.
