After five black women were told the Denny’s they stopped at had electrical problems and could not be served, they sued the Pennsylvania restaurant racial discrimination after realizing that the restaurant not only serves customers, but they are all white.
By: The New York Daily Newsfive black women, Daniela Bonhomme, Tatiana Pullard, Aminique Kiernon, Selina Sakasa, and Quantavia Grant, claimed that they experienced racism on January 14, 2024 at Denny’s. As the women made their way to a Denny’s in Bloomsburg, they said they were approached by a staff member who informed them the restaurant was closed because “the lights were flashing.” However, when the women used the toilets, they noticed that there were no problems with the electricity and the customers were enjoying their meal.
However, they also noticed that all patrons were white. Realizing the alleged blatant racism, one of the women recorded the scene. As they walked to the bathrooms, he explained what was going on and even took the time to point out the people in the restaurant before pointing out the white woman who had tricked them when they entered the hall.

It was the documents recently introduced In the United States District Court, Middle District of Pennsylvania. In the lawsuit, the women alleged that they were “humiliatingly denied seating and service at a Denny’s in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, simply because of the color of their skin.
Kyle Platt, who represents the women, said: “This is something that was incredibly blatant and obvious to anyone who could see it. They walked into the restaurant and were immediately taken away, while all the white customers were able to eat without question.”
“Our clients were deeply hurt by what happened that day,” Carranza told the outlet. “There was no reason for any staff to rush to them before they even entered the premises.”
To make matters worse, Denny’s corporate vice president Cheok Elmore, who is also black, tried to “calm and convince” Kiernon, telling him,
