It seems a few people are ready to support a former Cinnabon employee who was fired after a video of him making racist comments about a Somali couple went viral on social media.
Crystal Therese Wills has received more than $140,000 in monetary support from those who believe she had the right to verbally assault a couple who allegedly asked for more caramel on a Cinnabon item. Using the Christian crowdfunding platform GiveSendGo, the fundraiser, says the funds “go to getting Crystal back on her feet after this betrayal,” referring to the dessert company’s decision to terminate her. “Instead of banning criminals and supporting their employee, Cinnabon is firing Crystal to keep the no-gooders happy,” said the fundraiser created by Tom Hennessy.
“No white person should lose their job because Somalis refuse to harass.”
Comments from mostly anonymous donors share similar sentiments. One admitted to donating “just to piss off the self-righteous, hypocritical, pronoun-promoting, liberal pike of the world.” “Also to the biased media,” the donor wrote. Others thanked him for “protecting real Americans.”
Wills was seen on camera making racist remarks about a Somali woman’s hijab during a December 5 meeting at Bay Park Square Mall in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin. He then admitted that he was a racist and said: “I’m going to tell the whole world,” before telling the couple, “don’t be disrespectful.”
By: CBS Austinthe couple called Wilsey an idiot, told her she was ruining her life and said he would be fired. It didn’t take long for Cinnabon to catch wind of the commotion. “We are aware of a deeply disturbing video of a former employee of an independently owned and operated Cinnabon bakery in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin. The person in the video was immediately removed by the license holder,” the company said in a statement.
“Their actions and statements are completely unacceptable and in no way reflect the values of Cinnabon, our franchisees or the welcoming environment we expect for every guest and team member. We take this situation seriously and remain committed to treating all guests with dignity, respect and kindness every time they visit our bakery.
As for the couple, a woman named Sabrina Osman, who claims to be the couple’s cousin, has started a GoFundMe campaign. to help to cover “legal fees and attorney’s fees while we pursue justice.” Of the $45,000 goal, the campaign has raised more than $13,000 so far. Osman says it’s time for racism to end in this country. “Racism is spiraling out of control in this country and we refuse to be silent,” the fundraiser said.
“No one should ever have this kind of hate.”
Racism has risen in parts of the US since the Trump administration took over the White House for a second term. After a cabinet meeting on December 2, President Donald Trump launched a verbal attack against Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar, a Somali refugee, calling him “garbage.”
In early 2025, Haitian migrants in Ohio were attacked after Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance falsely claimed that they were stolen and eaten neighborhood pets.
