Snoop Dogg is showing his support for the LGBTQ+ community with his children’s series Doggyland.
Snoop Dogg seems to be addressing the backlash from the LGBTQ+ community regarding his comments about same-sex couples in children’s content, highlighting different families in its children’s show; Doggyland:.
On October 16, Doggyland debuted a new song, “Love is Love”, which featured: The voice Contestant Jeremy Beloat, who voices Zipp. In the track, Snoop’s animated dog character, Bow Wizzle, raps about the beauty of love and the many forms of family, as the clip shows Bow Wizzle giving high-fives to same-sex couples and their children.
“This is for ALL PARENTS. We see you, we love you, and we celebrate you.” – Doggyland inscribed promotional video.
A hip-hop mogul has expanded his message, partnering with Beloate and GLAAD for Spirit Day, dedicated to supporting LGBTQ youth. He discussed his support for same-sex couples and how the new song helps him engage with the community and celebrate different family dynamics.
“Love is the record that introduced me to my kids’ show, Doggyland,” Snoop shared. “A song that teaches love is love. It teaches parenting. It teaches the situations that kids and the world are going through right now, through song, dance, melody, and I’m just trying to get more clarity on how we live and how we live.”
The inclusion of LGBTQ+ artist Beloit reinforces the song’s message of inclusivity and helps teach kids about the diversity of family dynamics.
“And I felt like this music was a beautiful bridge to understanding,” Snoop explained. “This is a program that we’ve been doing for years where we’ve been involving kids, and these are issues that kids have questions about. So now, hopefully, we can help answer these questions and, you know, help them live happy lives and understand that love is love.”
The song’s release comes after Snoop faced backlash in August comments he made about taking to see his grandchildren Light year in 2022, which included a scene of two women kissing and raising a child together. While Snoop hasn’t made a direct statement addressing the criticism, he seems to be responding through his own Doggyland: series.
“It’s a beautiful thing that kids can have parents of varying degrees and show them love, teach them what love is,” Snoop told Beloat. “Being able to have parents from all walks of life, whether it’s two dads, two moms, whatever, love is the key.”
