Democratic Texas forced Rece. Jasmine Crockett is under fire to make a recent observation he made on Texas Gov. Greg Abbottthat some have considered teasing Abbott’s disability. While Republicans Conduct Crockett and even ask to be censored, Crockett defends his statements, with other people who pointed out the republican silence on the history of President Donald Trump to make a disability.
According to The associated pressCrockett’s comments came during her 2025 Human Rights Campaign at Los Angeles dinner Speech.

Many have made the comment as a mockery of Abbott for being a wheelchair user after a 1984 accident that caused a spinal injury. Several Republicans rushed to condemn Crockett.
Texas Senator John Cornyn called Crockett’s “misfortune” comment and tweeted, “Can you imagine if a Republican said something like this? Would be on the first page of Nyt and all cnn.”
The Washington Post He reported that Texas’s representative Randy Weber announced that he would try Crockett to censor Congress for his statements, accusing him of “storming -at levels of discrimination and despising political attacks”.
House President Mike Johnson, R-la., Crockett called for his comments as he echoed the republican condemnation for his recent statements about Elon Musk that he needed to be “demolished”, saying “this type of reckless rhetoric USA.
Crockett, others call GOP by hypocrisy
Crockett responded to the reaction in a series of tweets, saying that he was calling Abbott for “his terrible policy” and arguing that “I never mentioned or alluding to his condition.” Crockett also said that “it is even more dismayed than people who unequivocally support Trump, a man known for racially insensitive nicknames and make fun of people with disabilities, are now outraged.”
Others have echoed Crockett’s defense, saying that Republicans condemn Crockett, but they have been silent about Trump’s many offensive comments and actions, including the mockery of a disabled journalist.
For many, the republican silence due to multiple incidents of Trump has left them with little moral land to criticize Crockett.
If in recent years they have taught us something, Trump and his allies are unlikely to let a little hypocrisy prevent them from marking political points against a political rival. For now, Crockett’s words have seemed to give the Republicans ammunition to attack -and distract from the issues that and other Democrats are trying to raise the impact of republican policies in Texas and all over the country.
