What to remember about the original case
The original 2019 incident included the Empire The star stating that White Maga supporters assaulted him by pouring an unknown chemical and strokes out of a subway in the Chicago area early in the morning during the height of the Polar Vortex. In the following years, especially during the Smollett Court, police revealed that the Nigerian -Nigerian brothers who were also associates with Smollett and worked as extras in Empire were hired by Smollett to stage the attack. The telephone records corroborated the belief that Smollett created the hook and camera images with closed capture and other information showed Smollett and the brothers rehearsed the attack. The tests also showed that Smollett paid the brothers $ 3,500.
Finally, Smollett was convicted of five crimes of disorderly conduct and sentenced to 30 months of probation, including 150 days behind the grilles. He was also ordered to pay more than $ 120,000 on fines. The sentence was later reversed and in 2025, Smollett and the city of Chicago reached a settlement.
Throughout everything, Smollett has maintained that he has not lied to his attack.
