We met Keith Ceruti II and talked to him about his position and goals and the future and what it means to occupy this type of leadership in 2024-2025.
Read the full interview below.
What is the biggest thing you learned as SGA president so far?
The biggest lesson you learned as SGA president is that adversity is inevitable and that your ability to accept and adapt will determine your effectiveness as a leader. You may not always overcome an obstacle immediately, however, instantaneous stumbling is never a fall.
What made you decide to join the Eastern University of Maryland beach for university students?
I chose to attend the East Maryland University beach as the most unique HBCU, ever. From being the only HBCU in the state of Maryland, which offers a 1890 ground grant to being the first general HBCU to have a veterinary school; Umes is a hidden jewel that continues to shine unlike anything else. When you are associated with the rich history of our brilliant institution and unique programs such as PGA GOLF Management or Aviation Science, I think a firm belief that there is no institution close to a small part of what we offer.

How did the Eastern University of Maryland be the beach formed you in the person you are today?
Umes traveled to the individual that I am today through undesirable opportunities to grow my mind, professional life and personal behavior. In every corner of this institution, there are opportunities for all of them from attending conferences and influential internal training, to working with our state. I attribute all this to my colleagues, professors, the most beautiful and officials who always raise me and challenge me to strive for anything less than excellence.
What are the specific initiatives that you went to this year (or planning), and how do you think it will improve the school and the surrounding community?
Our administration this year has devoted our time and resources to amplify organizations on campus and allow students to participate more without the need for the bureaucracy process. Allow students to participate in the city’s halls, or the concentrated groups, or that our president lunch reinforces a stronger society on the campus and allows us to know how we can be in a better service to our peers
With the start of the semester, we also look forward to establishing “House of Hawks”, which will serve as a legislative body made of our students in the various population composition, studies and interests. We want all students to participate in decision -making in our organization, while they learn simultaneously more about how the Democratic Organization works.

How does your SGA management/school currently attend the mental health of students?
Our administration supports mental health with the support of Umes consulting services headed by Dr. Malika Johnson. The ability to refer students to these services with 110 % confidence in our consulting department is relief because the college constitutes an undeniable challenge. In addition, our administration is devoted to being completely authentic, weak, transparent. The great leaders realize themselves and deserved with who they are. Especially I would like to attribute this to the Vice President, Jada Wilkenson, who represents these basic values in everything we do.
What does driving mean to you?
Driving for me is to put a wisdom in setting your interest in a greater vision and a common goal. As a leader you are a reliable person who bears the responsibility of the people you serve. Civil service is a responsibility, not a privilege; It must be in use for the benefit of humanity.

We are now living in a digital world, what do you think of schools that you should do to represent themselves online in 2025?
Be comprehensive and get the students participating in creating universities content. Umes fully benefited from our students’ use in digital media studies for partnerships between admission and our Umes Street team. The strength of our institutions falls into our students, it is correct for students to participate in every step of the creative process.
Why do you think watching the courtyard is important for black students and the culture of the kidney?
The importance of watching the annihilation of black students and the culture of the college is in the nature of being the open media that transports all the great effort and work in our nation that these students make. Watch the courtyard away from the ideal ways in which HBCUS and black students remain in constant knowledge and communicate with each other. With the emergence of the next generation of leaders, it is necessary for us to unite and start following a better future for our societies together.

What do you plan to do after graduation?
After graduation, I will start working in the public sector in space, preferably on spacecraft. As Afrovotor, I intend to become an astronaut as it is important to participate in blacks and represent the coming limits for humanity. I would also like to start storming the local government because it has the greatest impact on people within our societies. Moreover, I will ultimately open a black engineering institution dedicated to biological mechanics, space and civilization. The Foundation will mostly make life change products at reasonable prices for the poor and poor institution.
We would like to praise Keith Ceruti II for his work as President of the University of SGA for the University of Maryland East.
