Florida State graduate assistant Ben Miles is expected to join the staff at Southern University as tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator under the new head coach. Marshal Faulk.
This was reported by CBS Sportsthe move marks the return of former LSU head coach Les Miles to Baton Rouge for his son Miles and adds another high-profile name to Faulk’s first staff at The Bluff.
Working Miles State of Florida will serve as his first full-time on-field position with the Jaguars in a graduate assistant role.
In addition to coaching, he will play a central role in shaping Southern’s overall recruiting strategy as Faulk looks to raise the profile of the program.
Before coming to Florida State, Miles spent time at Texas A&M, where he began building his coaching resume after his playing career. His experience at two major Power Four programs is expected to bolster Southern’s efforts on the field and on the recruiting trail.
Rent also has local significance. Baton Rouge is familiar territory for the Miles family, Les Miles led LSU to a national championship and multiple SEC titles during his tenure.
Ben Miles is now back in a different capacity, tasked with helping Faulk build a new era at Southern.
Southern officials have not made an official announcement regarding the hiring, but an official announcement is expected once final details are finalized.
