What a year for the North Carolina Central Quarterback Walker Harris.
He came off a record-breaking season by calling it a high signal call Meac Offensive Player of the YearHe made the announcement Tuesday during the National Football Foundation Awards at the Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
Harris, who spent several seasons as a backup quarterback before becoming the starting quarterback in 2024, is the first NC Central football player to become just the third since joining Jefferson Inmon in back-to-back wins behind Richard in 2022 and 2023.
Not bad company to keep.
It’s easy to see why Harris earned the nod. The first-team all-star led NCCU to an 8-4 season while rewriting the school’s record book. A program-best 3,214 yards and 24 touchdowns, making him one of the nation’s top passers. For context, only two Eagles have ever quartered the 3,000-yard mark — Harris back in 1985.

Harris was a multi-touchdown powerhouse with eight touchdowns in eight games, including a remarkable seven-game streak between September and November. He lit up Howard with four touchdowns by racking up 387 yards against Fayetteville State, followed by 380 at rival North Carolina A&T the following week.
By the end of the season, Harris not only brought home hardware, but also entered the record books – he now sits fifth all-time at NCCU with 5,777 career passing yards.
Not a bad way to end an endurance season.
