Black Wealth Events Partners with rolling out for the 2024 Wealth Weekend: Kentucky Derby to Empower HBCU Communities

Louisville KentuckyBlack Wealth Events, in collaboration with rolling out as a media partner, is excited to announce the 2024 Wealth Weekend: Kentucky Derby during Derby Diversity Week. This premier experience aims to advance education, community engagement, economic mobility, and empowerment within Black America, with a special focus on the contributions of Simmons College & Kentucky State University students and alumni. Simmons College offers Black students an environment where they can explore the world from a familiar place with the support of a welcoming, learning family. Developing and nurturing the potential of tomorrow’s Black leaders — tomorrow’s difference makers — is Simmons’s purpose, and it represents the dreams of the formerly enslaved persons who built our college more than 140 years ago. Kentucky State University is a public, comprehensive, historically black land-grant university committed to advancing the Commonwealth of Kentucky, enhancing society, and impacting individuals. Dedicated to providing access and opportunity to all students, KSU focuses on student success, academic excellence, and community engagement. Through quality teaching rooted in liberal studies, scholarly research, and public service, KSU prepares its graduates for lifelong learning, leadership, and service to others within the diverse global economy.

A Weekend of Impactful Engagement
The Wealth Weekend: Kentucky Derby is scheduled to commence with an Impact Investment Welcome of panel discussions and networking at Simmons College on May 1. This experience is specifically designed for Black professionals, executives, HBCU alumni, investors, supporters and allies in sectors such as private wealth management, family offices, private equity, and Venture Capitalists alongside local businesses and officials. Discussions will revolve around opportunity zones, circular economics with the Circular Economy Alliance, startups, and late-stage businesses within the impact investing sector, aiming to foster economic growth and community development.

Building Partnerships for the Future
Continuing May 2nd, the series will host a Think Tank at Kentucky State University featuring fireside chats and in-depth discussions. This session will target HBCUs, alumni, local businesses, government entities, fund managers, philanthropic organizations, and supporters & allies focusing on talent retention through local partnerships. Identifying a scholarship for Kentucky State and Simmons College undergrads and graduates, emphasizes education at HBCUs with a local employment commitment upon completion.
