‘Better Together’ celebrates Black history in Logan, West Virginia

LOGAN COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – Local celebrations continue this week to honor Black History Month.

Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College and West Logan Christian Academy joined forces Monday for a “Better Together” event at the college. The event was filled with diverse performances highlighting Black history and culture through art, poetry and even a heartfelt tribute to the late legend, Man High School Football Coach William “Tootie” Carter, who passed away in January.

“Diversity and equality is very important and I think that this program kind of brings us all together. It teaches us of our history and it helps them learn about their past so that we can forge on in the future,” said Krystal Cook with Southern WV CTC.

“Better Together” aims to become an unforgettable experience for people of all cultures and backgrounds to embrace Black history right in the Logan community.
