Black Friday shoppers pack local stores


YOU MAY HAVE HEARD THAT BLACK FRIDAY ISN’T AS BUSY AS IT USED TO BE. WELL, THAT WASN’T THE CASE TODAY AT NEBRASKA CROSSING CREWS STARTED AT 7 A.M. AND AS NEWSWATCH SEVEN AT NINE, SEAN MCKINNON SHOWS US KEPT GOING ALL DAY AND BUSTLING CROWDS. WE STARTED AT FIVE 8:05 A.M. LINES OUT THE DOOR. ALL RIGHT. IT’S ABOUT AN HOUR AND A HALF, 2 HOURS FOR A LONG, HARD LINE. CHECK OUT RIGHT NOW. AND JAMMED PARKING LOTS. OH, MY GOD. IT WAS TERRIBLE. WE’RE ON FOR LIKE 20 MINUTES. BASICALLY HOW TO GET OUT OF YOUR CAR TO, LIKE, HOLD UP TRAFFIC JUST APART. BUT, YEAH, IT’S VERY WORTH IT. WORTH IT TO KEEP THE FESTIVITIES GOING. SPENDING TIME WITH FAMILY. WE HAVE AN INSTAGRAM MILES AND STUFF. THEY’RE OUT SHOPPING, TOO. SO IT’S KIND OF LIKE A BONDING TIME, TOO. I LIKE TO GET TOGETHER WITH MY FAMILY AND STUFF LIKE, SPEND TIME. WE HAVE FUN. A FAMILY AFFAIR THAT HAD YOUNG AND OLD JUMPING FOR JOY. YOU MAY CATCH A DEAL HERE THAT YOU WOULDN’T GET ONLINE. AS YOU CAN SEE, IT’S LONG LINES OF OUTLET MALLS HERE IN GRETNA. THEY KEEP ON GOING AND PARKING WAS A MADHOUSE. EVERYBODY’S HERE AT THE MALL REALLY TRYING TO GET THOSE BLACK FRIDAY DEALS. BLACK FRIDAY IS BOUNCING BACK FOR THIS BUSINESS OWNER. YEAH, IT’S REALLY STEADY. SO BUSINESS MUCH BETTER THIS YEAR. SOME SHOPPERS ARE CONSCIOUS ABOUT THEIR SPENDING, TRYING TO ONLY SPEND A LITTLE BIT THIS HOLIDAY SEASON. BUT YEAH, THE THE INCREASED PRICING FOR EVERYTHING IS MAKING IT A LITTLE DIFFICULT. SO IT’S PROBABLY A LITTLE MORE RESERVED THAN NORMAL, PROBABLY TOO MUCH. ‘It’s very worth it’: Black Friday shoppers pack local stores

The parking lot at Nebraska Crossing was full as early as 7 a.m.

Cars lined up off the interstate and even parked in grass to get to Nebraska Crossing outlet malls this Black Friday, with crowds gathering as early as 7 a.m.Some lines for checkout, according to one employee, lasted an hour and a half to two hours. One man said the parking lot was jam-packed.”Oh my god, it was terrible. We drove around for like 20 minutes,” shopper Trei Harrell said. “You basically have to get out of your car to like hold up traffic just to park. But it’s very worth it,” he said.Worth it, he says, to keep the Thanksgiving festivities going. Shoppers said they secured deals and took the time to spend it with family. One business said this year’s Black Friday is busier than last. “Yeah it’s been pretty steady, so, business much better this year,” said Stacy Cunningham, manager of Scarlet Highway. Some shoppers say they’re being more conscious of their spending this year. “Yeah probably gonna have to do some bills later in the month,” Harrell said. “But it’ll be worth it, seeing people smile because of your gifts, for sure,” he said.
