Choice Gas enrollment period opens April 4

GILLETTE, Wyo. — For Wyoming customers interested in choosing their own natural gas supplier, selection time is around the corner once again. Enrollment for Choice Gas selection opens on April 4 and closes on April 24.

This selection process allows residents in participating towns to choose which specific natural gas supplier they would prefer to use for their home. For 2024, there are 10 suppliers to choose from, which can be viewed here.

While prices for specific suppliers may vary, all suppliers are required to meet certain standards set out by gas companies and the Wyoming Public Service Commission, according to Black Hills Energy.

Even within the enrollment period, Black Hills Energy notes that gas prices may change depending on market fluctuations, meaning prices may increase or decrease from the original estimate by each supplier.

If a customer does not choose a specific supplier during the enrollment period, their gas supplier will continue in “rollover selection,” meaning the previous supplier will continue, though the rate for service from the previous year will not, depending on the supplier.

Multi-year selection is an option for consumers, though these terms are address-specific and vary by supplier.

For more information regarding the Gas Choice selection process, check out the Black Hills Energy website or contact your gas provider.
