marcusmcb twitch-chat-bot: A custom chat bot built for Twitch using TMI js

To use the chat command, it only needs to meet one condition. This will display the time since your latest YouTube video upload was published. Games» chat command lets your viewers see which games (categories) you’ve streamed in your current or previous stream. The restriction also applies to chat commands posted by your timers.

Links are being removed from chat command responses​

The stats and np commands above all have OBS integration to display their responses on-screen during a user’s live stream. Connection is established and text data is updated via the obs-websocket-js library. Do you want a certain sound file to be played after a Streamlabs chat command? What can you do with a Streamlabs chatbot?

The timer will skip to the next chat command in its rotation if the conditions do not apply once the timer posts. The default handler to be called should a command execution be blocked by a middleware that has no specific handler set. If a cooldown action is set, and the command is in cooldown, the following variables will be the only ones available. Command events can trigger chat events at the same time but the argument stack for each are completely separate. Actions in Streamer.bot have per-session and per-command variables counter & userCounter that records how many times that command has been used.

Moobot will now post your chat command to Twitch chat automatically. To use a chat command, you just send a normal message to chat like «! Command», where «Command» is the name of the chat command. Custom chat commands help you minimize the effort you spend on repeating yourself, so you instead can engage with and entertain your audience. By default, this coroutine is called within the Bot.event_message() event. If you choose to override Bot.event_message() then you need to invoke this coroutine in order to handle commands.

Below is a list of some additional commands you may find useful in Moobot. The following example shows that the user foo sent a hello whisper message to the bot petsgomoo. Of course, you should make sure not to play any copyrighted music. Otherwise, your channel may quickly be blocked by Twitch. Timers can be an important help for your viewers to anticipate when certain things will happen or when your stream will start.

Command Middleware#

The Twitch IRC server enforces the following limits. It is up to your bot to keep track of its usage and not exceed the limits. Rate limit counters begin when the server processes the first message and resets at the end of the window. For example, if the limit is 20 messages per 30 seconds, the window starts when the server processes the first message and lasts for 30 seconds. At the end of the window, the counter resets and a new window begins with the next message.
