Texas Southern takes down Alabama A&M in SWAC semis


Texas Southern recorded its third straight win, handing Alabama A&M a 72-65 loss at Bartow Arena on Friday evening in the SWAC Tournament semi-finals.  The Tigers got out to a 33-31 lead by halftime, and then came out and outscored the Bulldogs again in the second half to come away with the victory.

Jonathan Cisse, Deon Stroud, and PJ Henry led the way for Texas Southern, contributing 18, 17, and 12 points, respectively. The Tigers’ ability to generate opportunities at the charity stripe was crucial to their success. They drew 21 personal fouls on the defense, which led to 16 points (80% shooting) from the free throw line.
