USHER Raymond Honors his Mother, Family, and Women

“My passion-work is what has mattered for me the moment my mother made me understand what purpose lies with the opportunity to be able to speak to the entire world. I recognize her more than anybody.

He then highlighted the importance of women in the industry and credited his mother for believing in his dreams despite the challenges they faced.

“But I wanted to make it known that far too often in our industry, do women not get the recognition that they truly deserve. When we first started, it was even harder for a mother to believe in the dreams that I had because I was unwavering. Being raised without a father in our home, being raised as a single parent. It was a lot. But she was more defined. If anyone deserves it more than anybody, it’s her,” Usher said.

Usher dedicated the award to his family and grandmother, highlighting hard work and faith. He thanked his family for their support and reflected on his philanthropic work through the New Look Foundation.
