Terrance Howard, a former defensive back for Alabama football, has committed to HBCU North Carolina Central University.
Howard is a 5’11, 180 pound defensive back that has been well-traveled in recent years. In 2021 he was an All District nominee in the Houston area with 41 tackles, two sacks, one interception and eight pass breakups as he starred at cornerback for the district 20-6A champion Ridge Point High School in Texas. He was a standout on the track as well, as the district 20-6A 400m Champion, 400m Area Runner up, and was a Regional Qualifier with a personal record of 48.75.
He moved on to Jireh Prep outside of Charlotte in 2022. He played both sides of the ball and was nominated Offensive Player of the Year, and was also a Post Grad All Star selection.
Terrance Howard committed to play for Alabama football prior to the 2023 season. However, he never saw any playing time in Nick Saban’s final season at the SEC school. He did, however, participate on the school’s nationally-ranked track team.
Howard reported several offers from HBCU programs, including Texas Southern, close to his hometown. He also reported an offer from Southern University.
Ultimately, North Carolina Central — a year-and-a-half removed from being MEAC and HBCU national champions after being Jackson State — pulled Howard in. NC Central went 9-3 in the 2023 season, however, it will play 2024 without the services of players such as Brandon Codrington (who just signed with the New York Jets) or Khalil Baker, the 2022 MEAC Defensive Player of The Year.
